Memorandum of Understanding regarding plot for production of SAF

Kadeco, Suðurnesjabær and IðunnH2 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding land for use in the potential establishment of a sustainable aviation fuel production facility in Bergvík. The land in question is owned by the Icelandic state and is located in that part of the K64 Circular Industries ecopark which lies within the municipality of Suðurnesjabær. Kadeco is working towards an establishment and development of a circular industrial park in the Helguvík-Bergvík area through the K64 Strategic Masterplan and in concert with the municipalities in the area.

Keflavik Airport Development Company, Kadeco, is working towards planning, developing and marketing land around Keflavík International Airport. Signatories to the MoU understand the value of having such a facility near the airport. Production of sustainable aviation fuel aligns well with the philosophy which underpins the K64 masterplan, the vision behind the K64 Circular Industries ecopark, the operating needs of the airport and Iceland's competitiveness.

Kadeco and Suðurnesjabær express their willingness to support the establishment of operations as proposed by IðunnH2, subject to legal and regulatory requirements, and the condition that a plot allowing for the proposed operations is approved in a local development plan. The law and the policy mandates that the allocation of plots must be conducted in an open and transparent manner, ensuring equal opportunities for interested parties.
