Design team ÞYKJÓ visited students of Háaleitisskóli at Ásbrú last Friday, to celebrate winning 1st prize in the Project category at the Icelandic Design Awards 2024 with their joint project Children and city planning (Börnin að borðinu). The project was initiated by Reykjanesbær and Kadeco who commissioned ÞYKJÓ to create a workshop for students at Háaleitisskóli at Ásbrú, with the aim of capturing the children's ideas and converting them into action to give them voice and mobilize them to influence. During the workshop the students discussed the future development of their neighbourhood, Ásbrú, and elaborated on their ideas in creative ways.

The students received awards certificates to keep at Háaleitisskóli
Halldóra Fríða Þorvaldsdóttir, acting mayor of Reykjanesbær, congratulated the students.
