Reykjanesbær, Kadeco and Stofnhús construction company have signed a contract for the development and construction of new residential buildings on Suðurbrautarreitur, a new development area in central Ásbrú.
The size of Suðurbrautarreitur is around 33,000 square meters and the initial contract is for the construction of a minimum of 150 apartments. This will be the first new construction of residential buildings in Ásbrú since the departure of the US navy in 2006, when the US government returned the area to the Icelandic government. Ásbrú is part of Reykjanesbær municipality and is currently defined as the town’s main development area. Development plans for the area will be presented and advertised to the public in the upcoming months and construction is expected to commence soon after.
